Nic Cohen

TelePlay and Screenwriter

Like her characters, Nic defies simple definition. Pursuing her passions led to an eclectic career that includes visiting detainees in Guantanamo Bay for human rights work, lobbying capitol hill on global warning policy, teaching toddlers to dance ballet, and performing internationally in a salsa hip-hop group. These wildly varied life experiences inform her unique perspective on gender, access to power, and the importance of the environment.

Nic’s first three feature screenplays are all in development and have received accolades from Austin Film Festival, the Academy Nicholl Fellowship, the CineStory Fellowship, and the Page International Screenplay contests. Nic attended The Writer’s Lab in 2022. She is currently adapting the “The Paris Bookseller” and prepping to co-direct a short film in 2024 in Spain.

Nic and her husband are LGBTQ+/Trans-proud parents to three hilarious, neurodiverse adolescents. They share a home in norther. Virginia with a shy Siberian kitten (Willa Cather) and a bold pygmy hedgehog (The General Archibald Ludwig Von Spikewell,or “The General).
